About computhomas

Welcome to computhomas, a blog helping IT guys to evolve and distinguish themselves from the masses.

I am Thomas Christian Thiele, a specialist in business computing from Berlin, Germany.
I finished my first degree in Business Computing (Diplom-Wirtschaftsinformatiker) in 2004 and added a Master Of Science in 2007 while already working fulltime. (You can learn more about the theses and even download them here.)

But life was a better teacher than school or university. In 2003, while writing my thesis, I was diagnosed with testicular cancer. Although testicular cancer has one of the best cure rates of all cancer, the diagnosis was a shock. After surgery and two cycles of chemotherapy the cancer seems to be beaten.

I wouldn’t say that the disease was the best that ever happened to my life - but it definitely changed the way I live. I want to evolve and help others evolve.

Working part time all the time until my first degree and full time after, I experienced prejudice against IT guys. These were the same in small companies and in global players. And to be true, a lot of these prejudice are reasonable.

shy, geeky, arrogant, not able to explain things in general terms, not knowing enough about business operations

Because these are manifested in the minds of business people, it is quite easy to step forward by distinguishing yourself. I will give my best to help you (and me) getting better technical and social.
